An Interview 25 Years In The Making

Hi Everyone,

It’s back to school season, and back to work for many of us. In that vein, I am excited to share several new things I have coming up for you this fall, including a podcast interview 25 years in the making.

If you have been looking for a way to better cultivate meaningful personal and professional relationships, check out this Leadership Minute article on how to use a Relationship Dashboard to build deeper personal and professional connections. It includes a tool to help you get started.

Elevate Podcast – New Look and New Episodes

If you’re not following/subscribed to the Elevate Podcast, you’re missing out on hundreds of conversations with the very best minds in their fields—New York Times bestselling authors like Dan Pink, James Clear and Seth Godin, and CEOs like Ford’s Alan Mulally and Cotopaxi’s Davis Smith.

This summer, I have been recording what I believe is one of our best run of guests to date, which starts publishing today. We kick off with Basecamp co-founder and thought leader David Heinemeier Hansson, followed by Amanda Knox, whose wrongful conviction gives us a lot of lessons on confirmation bias and forgiveness. Next up is Tim Urban on his smash hit book, What's Our Problem and our current state of societal discourse. In October, we'll have Nir Eyal and a nearly two-hour masterclass in leadership and culture with someone I’ve wanted to interview for years, Patrick Lencioni.

Elevate Your Team is a B&N Bestseller

I was very excited to see Elevate Your Team reach the #2 spot on the Barnes & Noble bestseller list two weeks ago. Every new headline about burnout and employee engagement is a reminder that we need a new leadership playbook for growth, and I believe Elevate Your Team offers that playbook. If you have read the book, it would mean a lot to me of you could review it on Amazon to help get the word out.

Virtual and In-Person Keynotes

As we enter fall, meeting and conference planners are working to fill their speaking roster for fall and winter events. 2023 is nearly fully committed and 2024 is starting to fill up, so you are interested in a potential virtual or in-person keynote, check out my refreshed speaking page and send us a note through the contact form at the bottom of the page.

Hi Everyone, Last week, we hit a major milestone—over 1,000 people have signed up for Friday Forward Premium. When I moved Friday Forward to Substack almost exactly a year ago, one of my chief goals was to create additional content exclusively for my most engaged readers, growing a community of people committed to upping their leadership game, personally and professionally. I am extremely grateful to everyone who has supported my work, allowing me to turn a passion into a vocation and spend...

Hi Everyone, I hope many of you are enjoying the first flowers of the spring, and some warming weather, if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. I also hope you’ve had the opportunity to spend more time outside these past few weeks. In case you missed it, I shared a story about a remarkable Lyft ride in a recent Friday Forward—thanks to everyone who sent in their feedback or shared their own similar stories vulnerably with me. Also, don’t miss the latest episode of the Elevate Podcast, where I...

Hi Everyone, In the Northern Hemisphere, the second quarter of the year is when people have, for centuries, planted seeds for the crops that will sustain them later in the year. Take that as a metaphor: whatever you’re trying to achieve this year, the planning (or procrastination) phase should be done, or that goal is probably not happening this year. For me, the last few months have been all about the launch of Elevate Your Team. Thank you to everyone who supported the launch of the book. I...
